Pure Leaf Green Tea with Jasmine Tea Review

Pure Leaf Green Tea with Jasmine Tea Review

I can’t tell you how much I have been looking forward to trying this tea! Pure Leaf Jasmine Green tea has been on my wish list for a long time. Any tea company that uses single origin green tea and real jasmine flowers is a top-quality brand, in my opinion.

Green tea with jasmine is a classic combination, so if you haven’t tried it before, it’s really easy to get your hands on.

In this full review of Pure Leaf Green Tea with Jasmine, I’ll describe what to expect from the flavours, how best to brew this tea, and give you some links to buy this tea online. Let’s get to it!

Pure Leaf Jasmine Green Tea at a Glance

Izzy's Rating
3.9/5
  • Blend: Single origin Chinese green tea infused with jasmine flowers
  • Flavour: Smooth and plain green tea with lovely jasmine notes

This is a fantastic mid-range jasmine green tea to try. The green tea base is quite simple but has a nice flavour and the strength of the jasmine is just right. Well-balanced and affordable. It’s better than your standard supermarket blends but not as outstanding as some luxury jasmine teas I’ve tried.

I’m reviewing the pyramid sachet version of this tea, which I believe is available in Canada. Elsewhere around the world, Pure Leaf sell this tea in individually wrapped teabags.

The aroma off the dry leaf is lovely. Green tea notes are fresh and quite distinctive – you know that it’s a Chinese green tea immediately, rather than a sencha, for example. The jasmine is strong too, but not overpowering. Together the ingredients have fresh, revitalising vibes.

Don’t be surprised when the colour of this tea ends up egg yolk golden. Many jasmine green teas stay quite a pale yellow, but not this one. Don’t panic – you haven’t over-brewed it.

The aroma from the brewed tea has a stronger jasmine scent, while the green tea mellows nicely in the background. I could quite happily sit here and inhale the scent all day long.

When you come to taste this tea, you’ll find it’s very easy to just gulp it down. It’s so refreshing and lovely, with warm green tea notes and gentle jasmine. The balance is perfect, the texture is smooth, and it leaves you feeling calm and rejuvenated.

How to Brew Jasmine Green Tea

On my box of Pure Leaf Jasmine Green Tea, there isn’t any direction for water temperature. Regardless, I recommend you use water at 80°C (or just wait 5 minutes after the kettle boils to pour the water).

I brewed this tea for 2 minutes, but you could brew longer. I wouldn’t surpass 4 minutes, however.

You can try this tea with food, but I find it best after a meal. It’s a palate cleanser, so don’t add any sweetener or lemon.

Why Pure Leaf Tea Pyramids?

I was gifted this tea from a friend who knows me well. Jasmine green tea is one of my favourites… but that doesn’t bias me. In fact, it makes me even more judgemental of teas. I have high standards when it comes to jasmine tea and thankfully, Pure Leaf meets most of them.

The leaf size isn’t great and there’s only 1.5g per tea pyramid, but it’s clearly the right amount for a standard teacup size. If you’re brewing a large mug, I think you might struggle, however.

You’ll notice that even though jasmine flowers are listed in the ingredients, there aren’t actually any in the tea bag I ripped open. That’s not really a problem. I imagine there are a limited number of jasmine flowers in this tea blend so not all sachets will contain them. Regardless, the jasmine flowers have left an impression. Even without a jasmine bloom in this tea, it has that unmistakable jasmine flavour and aroma.

Summary

This is a brilliant tea. If you have tried a jasmine green teabag and quite liked it, this is the next step up. More convenient than loose leaf jasmine tea, but just as flavoursome. Pure Leaf are onto a winner here. You can check if this tea is available on Amazon in your country by using the button below or the link above.
