Twinings Intensely Raspberry & Dragon Fruit Tea Review

Twinings Intensely Raspberry & Dragon Fruit Tea Review

It’s a perfect Sunday afternoon, the sky is clear blue, the sun is shining and I’ve nothing to do but drink tea and laze about.

My tea of choice on this fine day is Twinings Intensely Raspberry & Dragon Fruit. It’s an old favourite that I only bring out for truly special days. It’s a fruit tea, bursting with juicy flavours. It reminds me of summer and is so nice to drink outside. The combination of exotic, fruity notes and the freshly cut grass on the breeze is sublime.

When it’s February and the sun is out but it’s still quite chilly, this hot Twinings fruit tea should be the first thing you reach for.

Much like my recent Zest Superberry Samba Tea Review, this blend has a very enticing, exotic aroma as soon as you open the packet. These individually wrapped paper teabags have a fresh berry scent with a good hint of warm sweetness. The combination instantly takes me back to summer evenings and tucking into a generous helping of summer berry crumble.

It still makes my stomach rumble now.

Once brewed, the aroma and flavour transform into a complex fruity medley. The dragon fruit sings through and perfectly compliments the slightly tart tang of the raspberry with exotic sweetness. But it’s not too sweet.

The sweetness tastes natural, rather than added artificially.

I also noted that it has some wine-like qualities. There’s a red current undertone beneath the raspberry and dragon fruit that reminds me of a fruity red wine. It’s very drying on the tongue too.

Twinings raspberry and dragon fruit tea is a delightful infusion that leaves a smile on my face after the last sip. The tea liquor colour is so vibrant and enticing, particularly in the sunlight!

How to Brew Twinings Herbal Teas

I personally don’t like strong flavoured tea. Usually you reach a point where the flavours don’t develop further but a bitterness starts to overpower everything. Ignoring Twinings vague 2-3 minute brew time direction, I brewed the tea bag in freshly boiled water for 1 minute and 15 seconds until it was a rich yet still light berry red colour.

You can drink this at any time of day, but it’s particularly good in the morning, as a dessert tea with your favourite dessert, or to replace dessert if your meal was particularly heavy.

Why Twinings Fruit Tea?

I’ve searched far and wide for the Twinings Intensely range but they seem to now be fairly rare! Nonetheless, Twinings continue to stock a wide range of different fruit and herbal teas for you to try. If you’re looking for something similar, check out Twinings Cranberry and Raspberry Tea.

Besides an inordinate amount of tea dust, Twinings tea is full of natural ingredients.

The contents of the tea bag were mediocre. There was a considerable amount of dust that puffed out and floated on the surface of my drink. Still, you can see dried flecks of rosehip, hibiscus and other organic ingredients in there. It smells delicious.

Twinings tea is usually an average-good quality tea brand and create affordable, classic teas. You can also find it in the supermarket, which is a plus.

Summary

I would highly recommend this as a fruit tea for anyone. It’s complex enough to satisfy the fruit tea fanatic, but homely and full of recognisable flavours for the tea beginner.

I can’t find a price for this tea any more, but Twinings fruit infusions are usually easy on your wallet. Their Earl Grey tea works out at around 5p per cup, for example, and the Cranberry and Raspberry blend works out as around 23p per cup. Note that prices do fluctuate regularly.
